Zwift-6Points Mallorca Sunday Training Ride 18/06

Today I was leading our 6Points Mallorca team through the virtual streets of Scotland on the Zwift riding platform. In total it was a four lap training ride on the 8,9km “Rolling Highlands” course with some good chatting and a hard mini race at the end. Instead of a sprint we had the “Breakaway Brae” KOM each lap.

The lead-in lap is around 5km long. During that one we took it quite easy to get some blood running through the system. For the following first lap we raised the watts, but not to hard until the first and second climb. The challenge on this course are the small bumpers, as well as the up- and downhills. I raised the watts for each uphill, but let the legs just spin for the downhill sections.

Our sweeper Johan P. did a very good job bringing riders back to the group after the two longer downhill sections. The group also behaved quite well to let the tail coming back.
But we also had some really strong riders going up the “Breakaway Brae” KOM with good numbers for a training ride.

All in all it was a good training ride with sections of higher numbers, as well as some relaxing ones.
Everything changed when I gave the GO for the optional 6km mini-race. For the first km the racers were just warming up, but after that the heat was raising.
A bunch of riders stayed together pushing good numbers until the climb before the KOM one. The racers could hold it quite good without giving up, but the “Breakaway Brae” KOM showed who had the most power left. The sprint up for the KOM was really a fun to watch.

Congrets to B. Wu, M. Treadwell and A. Popovski for the podium.
I took the riders not racing to the line, but we took the last climb with all we had in our legs. Thanks everyone for coming and having fun with us today.
