Today I was leading our GGCC team through the virtual streets of Makuri Islands on the “Fine and Sandy” course on the Zwift riding platform. In total it was a four lap training ride with two sprints each lap and an optional mini-race at the end of the ride. Roger B. was our sweeper for today, thanks mate.

As always on the ride towards the first sprint we did a good warm-up at around 2,6W/kg. The first sprint came already after around 3km where the sprinters could show off their legs for the first time. The second sprint came after 3 more kilometers. Basically the course is split into three sections.
The fun part are the two climbs on section one and three.

During the sprints we got some good numbers from our sprinters. The length of both is 350m, but the gradient is different which gives us different times. Let’s check what we got after the six sprints:

The optional mini-race started from the first sprint banner of the fourth lap. Unfortunately, we had three fliers before I gave the GO GO GO for the race start. For the first time I had to give the red card for a DQ. The hardness of the course made the race alittle slaty 😈 But the racers took this challenge with strong legs. It was a good fight all the way into the finish.
I was leading a following group to the finish line.

Because of the DQ for G. R. Martin our podium was given to B. Wu 🥇, Kevin 🥈, and D. Richards 🥉 – congrats to the three riders.
Thanks to all riders for having fun with us today.
