Today I was leading our GGCC team through the virtual streets of New York on the “The 6 train” course on the Zwift riding platform. In total it was a six lap training ride with no sprints this time. Of course we had our optional mini-race at the end of the ride.

We started a little low to warm up, but at the first climb we pushed much harder. This ride really was supposed to be a training ride to get stronger. All the climbs could make this happen. It was up to each rider to go uphill seated or standing up on the pedals, just to reach the higher numbers.
On average I tried to stay at around 215W @71kg for the whole course. Which means that because of the higher numbers during the climbs we had a bit of a relaxing time to the end of each lap.
The fifth lap was a bit lower on average to get ready for the optional mini-race. It was up to each and every ride to go hard or at pace for the last lap.

We had a well behaving group today. Most of the riders could stay in the peloton until the mini-race. Just some riders had to go a bit lower, making a secondary group at a lower pace. But as I already wrote at the beginning, this is a ride making a rider strong. therefore I stayed at the upper end of the C category.
The race was splitting the peloton into two groups, the racers and the pacers – good jab team 👍🏻
The racer group was going a bit harder but all together until the end. The last 300 meters of the race was all about sprinting to get onto the podium.

Congrats to T.Meza 🥇, B. Williams 🥈 and M. Schofield 🥉 for the podium – great racing guys.
A huge thanks to all riders for coming and playing with us today 👍🏻
