Today I was leading our GGCC team through the virtual streets of Watopia on the new “Coast Crusher” course on the Zwift riding platform. In total it was a hard training ride with an optional mini-race at the end of the ride.
We had Damian M. as the red beacon – thank mate, good job 👍🏻

Today we use one of the new courses along the south cost for the first time. It. is a nice out and back route with quite a long lead-in along the gravel roads of the jungle.
As always we started at a lower pace on the gravel downhill towards the start of the new cost route. After the start banner we went around 2,8-3,0 W/kg and around 3,2-3,4 W/kg on the bumps. For the downhills we went a little lower again just to relax. For some reason we got a second group quite early in the ride. But because of the good work of Damian we had a strong tail group fighting their way on.
In the peloton we had some riders riding very close to our fence with was 10sec in front of me. Unfortunately, after a sprint and because of the profile they went way too far in front of the fence and were disabled.
Because I was trying to control the group by chatting and the first sprints came quite fast I missed my marks for the GO 😔 Next time I will be more concentrated on my mark list, fingers crossed 🤞🏻 After we saddled in I hit my sprinting GOs much better.
Let’s check the results from the sprints we had:

Because I missed the first sprints I moved the start for our optional mini-race a bit closer to the finish line. From the start we were close together for quite some time, but we were raising the power for each kilometer.
Close to the finish line some guys really used everything they had left in their legs to have a good sprint finish right from the group. It felt a bit like to pro peloton on their flat stages.
Let’s check the results:

Congrats to B. Wu 🥇, A. Verhaaren 🥈 and P. Aldeguer 🥉 for the podium.
Thanks to all for coming an riding with us today – good job guys 👍🏻
