Today I was leading our GGCC team through the virtual streets of Watopia on the “Flat Route Reverse” course on the Zwift riding platform. In total it was a four lap training ride with an optional mini-race at the end of the ride. During the ride we had a good chat on our Discord server.
We had Damian M. as the red beacon – thank mate, good job 👍🏻

We started with a easy 2,6 W/kg pace until the first sprint, which came quite early. At the first sprint our sprinters were going hard, but not at the absolute limit yet.
From here on I was going for a 2,8 W/kg on the flats and a little higher on the uphills. And this route has quite some up and downs where we could have a good training effect. On the other hand there is a risk slitting the group in half because of all the up and downs, but the group could stay together.
Because we did four laps, we had three laps to do. The sprint banner was the start for our optional mini-race.
The second sprint was the fastest of the three. Let’s check out the three results:

That puts S. Jones into green for the guys and Helen F. for the ladies – good job 👍🏻
After the last sprint we relaxed a bit to make the legs ready for the mini-race.
After the beach banner, which also is the finish line for the mini-race, I put the fence down to first 5sec and later down to 2sec.
Coming downhill towards the sprint banner (the start of the race) some guys used that to have a good speed for braking loose from the peloton. Quickly we had a good racing group riding away from the peloton. Just to bring our HR up a bit, I pushed a little harder to lead the peloton at a good pace towards the finish.
Our racers went rally hard from around 1km left to the line. Let’s check out the results:

Congrats Dylan Jones 🥇, Bruch Wu 🥈and James Muir 🥉 for the podium.
Also thanks to all for coming and riding with us today.
Good ride report Martin. See you next time!
