Zwift-GGCC Glasgow Green Saturday Training Ride 09-03-24

Today I was leading our GGCC team through the virtual streets of Richmond on the “Richmond Rollercoaster” course on the Zwift riding platform. In total it was a six lap training ride with an optional mini-race at the end of the ride.
Thanks to Roger for going in red and helping out, good job 👍🏻
Thanks to Katie T. from Storey Racing for coming today and riding with us – good luck for the track worlds.

During a longer “lead-in” we had some good “climbs” to do before going onto the fan flats reverse circling around on that. Of course, here we had to do some sprints.
The last round on the fan flats rev. we will have as our optional minirace.

During the lead-in I slowly went up to a pace of around 2,8 W/kg and kept that on the flat part. Our sprinters had some good job to do, and they really tried as hard as they could. Quite some riders went together as one team to have the best draft. during the lead out. By bringing the peloton into a longer row the sprinters god a good draft for getting below 12sec.
Let’s check out the progress during the laps:

Congrats to A. Kerr for the ladies and Cockney Stew for going in green.
But wait, from our optional mini race we also had that sprint as our finish. And here we got a even better time in the end.

Congrats to K. Andy for taking the jersey at the end of the ride, A. Kerr still for the ladies, but a better time as well – good job 🏆

The complete last lap was our optional minirace with the start and finish at the sprint banner.
Right from the start a good group of riders went away with a pace around 3,8 W/kg. Nobody really tried getting into a breakaway. From around 2,5 km to go the pace was going up a bit, but the group was still together until the sprint line. From around 500m to go we had a good group sprint towards the line.
Let’s see who was the stronges:

Congrats to K. Andy 🥇, R. Thomas 🥈 and Cockney Stew 🥉 for the podium.

Thanks to all for coming and riding with us today.
