Today I was leading our GGCC team through the virtual streets of Watopia on the Zwift riding platform. Today we did the “Sugar Cookie”, my all time favourite. Thanks Jorge B. for doing the sweeping (good job) and Ian for helping out in the peloton today 👍🏻
As always we had some sprints and an optional mini-race at the end of the ride.

For the lead-in through the jungle we went at around 2,6W/kg, after the start on the flats 2,8W/kg and higher on the uphills. The biggest challenge was the last long climb to keep the group together, I tried staying at a power around 3,2 W/kg. Luckily the bypass back to the jungle was long enough to bring the group back together for having a fair race start.
The cost road is really a lot of fun, not even because of all the sprints but also because of the flats and the bumps, but also because of the colourful scenery. Our sprinters really had something to do. On the short coast road doing four hard sprints is quite challenging. Let’s check the result lists:

Congrats to D. Tesic for getting all four green jerseys 🏆
After the sprints were done we focused on the climb to come. The first short test were directly after the desert. But the real challenge was the first part of the Epic KOM up to the bypass. Luckily we could stay good together for hafing a relaxing ride along the bypass for the minirace preparation.
I brought the fence to 2sec and we went nicely along the bypass road. At the arch back to the jungle I gave the GO GO GO for our racers – and off they went.
I had some of the peloton riders with me. But the racing group went strong more and more away from us. For the most the racing group stayed good together. Of course, last last kilometre to the finish line was hard sprinting. Let’s check out the race results:

Congrats to B. Wu 🥇, B. Stoneman 🥈 and L. Addy 🥉 on the podium – good racing guys.
Thanks to all for coming and having fun with us today.
