Today I was leading our GGCC team through the virtual streets of Makuri Islands on the “Makuri 40” course on the Zwift riding platform. We did a one lap training ride with four sprints and an optional mini-race at the end of the ride.
The road is flat and fast through the Yumezi countryside. It takes you to the dirt road into Neokyo Tunnel. Then, you enter the city’s permanight.
Thanks to Johan P. for helping out and Jam S. for going in red.

As always on the ride towards the first sprint we did a warm-up at around 2,6-2,8 W/kg, but it was mostly uphill. The uphill right from the start made it quite hard for some rider staying in the leading group.
The first sprint came already early where the sprinters show off their legs for the first time. Between the second and third sprint we had a nice flat part where we just focused on spinning our legs at around 2,8W/kg. Sprint three and four were quite close after each other.
During the sprints we got some good numbers from our sprinters. Let’s check what we got after the six sprints:

Congrats to M. Serna, R. Hansen and K. Kutti for such good numbers and the green jersey 🏆
The optional mini-race started 10km away from home. The hardness of the course made the race a little salty 😈 But the racers took this challenge with strong legs. It was a good fight all the way into the finish. I was in a group of some riders at a higher pace behind the racers. Let’s check the results:

Congrats to B. Wu 🥇, B. Smith 🥈 and J. Taylor 🥉 for the podium – good race guys 👍🏻
Thanks to all riders for coming today and having fun with us.
