Today I was leading our GGCC team through the virtual streets of Watopia on the Zwift riding platform. Today we did the “Sugar Cookie”, my all time favorite. Thanks Jam for going in red today. Good job!
As always we had some sprints and an optional mini-race at the end of the ride.

For the lead-in through the jungle, we went at around 2,6W/kg. After the start on the flats, we maintained 2,8W/kg. Higher power was needed on the uphills. The biggest challenge was the last long climb. I tried to keep the group together by staying at a power around 3,4-3,6 W/kg. Luckily, the bypass back to the jungle was long enough. It brought the group back together. This allowed for a fair race start.
The cost road is really a lot of fun. It’s not just because of all the sprints. It’s also because of the flats and the bumps. The colorful scenery adds to the enjoyment. Our sprinters really had something to do and they did indeed. On the short coast road doing four hard sprints is quite challenging for the legs. Let’s check the result lists:

Congrats to L. Pawlowski, A. Caramelo and S. Skeggsl for getting the green jerseys 🏆
After the sprints were done we focused on the climb to come. The first short test were directly after the desert. But the real challenge was the first part of the Epic KOM up to the bypass. Luckily we could stay good together for having a relaxing ride along the bypass for the minirace preparation.
I brought the fence to 2sec and we went nicely along the bypass road. At the arch back to the jungle I gave the GO GO GO for our racers – and off they went.
I had some of the peloton riders with me in quite a good group. Some riders went strong and moved further away from us. We caught up with them during the way towards the finish line. For the most the peloton group stayed good and fast together. Of course, the last kilometer to the finish line was hard sprinting. Let’s check out the race results:

Congrats to R. Carless 🥇, J. Taylor 🥈 and I. Colmenares 🥉 on the podium – good racing guys.
Thanks to all for coming and having fun with us today.
