I led our GGCC team today through the virtual streets of Watopia. We rode on the “Flat Route Reverse” course on the Zwift riding platform. In total it was a four lap training ride with an optional mini-race at the end of the ride.

As always, we started a little slower to warm up. Soon, we went up on our course pace of around 2,8W/kg. Of course, on the downhills a little lower and on the uphills a little harder. My plan for today was something more like a recovery ride, for some riders z2. Quite soon we had our first sprint. The first time was already good for the first lap, but the 3’rd time was the fastest.

I always pulled extra hard for giving a good draft to our sprinters. After the some sprints we got a stretch and some riders were further back. During the rest of the lap, I went a little slower again. We always could come togeher again for riding in a good group. A little group were together with Jam a bit behind on their own pace.
During the hills we always were together again and could focus on the training ride. Let’s check out the sprint results:

After the sprints were done and dusted we relaxed a bit in preparation for the upcoming minirace. I first adjusted the fence down to 5 seconds. Later, I reduced it to 2 seconds to ensure a fair race start for our racers.
It was quite nice to bring the HR down a bit. Then I gave the GO GO GO to start the minirace. It was a 5,4km hard effort for our racers. From the start quite a group were still together going strong. One rider tried getting away from us as we went through the tunnel. Some of the group increased their pace. They gave everything towards the finish line to catch up with the single rider, did not happened. At the end all did a hard sprint for getting onto the podium.
