I somehow managed to lead our GGCC team today through the virtual streets of Makuri Islands without getting totally lost. We bravely navigated the “Twilight Harbor” on the Zwift riding platform, pretending we knew exactly what we were doing. In total it was a five-lap training ride with an optional mini-race at the end – yes, the whole last lap, because apparently we enjoy suffering. Huge thanks to all riders for staying together and regrouping so quickly after every sprint – clearly, you’re all better at pacing than I am, good job
Thanks JC for doing the RB group job today – you basically made sure the wheels didn’t fall off the virtual bus. Also thanks to Alan and Jam for helping out.

We rolled out at a slightly lower pace to warm up the legs and the excuses. From the first sprint on, though, our sprinters finally showed their legs some daylight. We cranked the pace up a notch. In total, our sprinters got two chances each lap to go absolutely full gas and question their life choices. All in all, we had six sprints, because in the 4’th lap we were busy plotting and preparing for our optional mini-race.
So let’s check out the sprint results:
The Tower Sprint:

The Alley Sprint:

Congrats to T. Hillmann for getting both green jerseys – strong job 🏆
After the sprints were done and dusted, we collectively decided we’d earned a chill lap four. We rolled around like a very fast coffee break, stayed neatly bunched up for the whole lap, and mentally rehearsed our dramatic race faces. As we approached the lap banner where the race officially started, I quietly nudged up the pace—just enough to turn cruise control off and ease our racers smoothly into higher power.
For most of the last lap we stayed good together as a leading group. Every once in a while some riders tried a break away – could the group hold them back?
The group came together again and most riders went as hard as possible for the last 400m, let’s say we had a nice and powerful group sprint 😁
Let’s check out the results from the race:

Congrats to K. Andi 🥇, Martin B. 🥈 and H. Fürstenberg 🥉 on the podium.
Thanks to all riders for coming and riding with us today.
