Zwift-GGCC Glasgow Green Saturday Training Ride 25-07-2026

Today, I led our GGCC team on a wild adventure through the digital labyrinth of the “Crêpe Escape”. We pedaled our way around Paris on the Zwift riding platform, feeling more like bicycle tourists than elite cyclists. It was a thrilling two-lap training ride, complete with an optional mini-race at the end that was about as necessary as a donut in a gym!
Shout out to Jam for rocking the red today like a traffic light and to Jamie for wrangling our peloton—great job, team! Who knew we could have so much fun without a single flat tire? 😂

We kicked things off during the lead-in at a fabulously relaxed 2.6 W/kg, feeling less like athletes and more like folks out for a leisurely Sunday stroll—maybe stopping for ice cream along the way! Once we cruised past the lap banner, I thought, “Why not unleash the inner beast and average a flashy 200W?” This way, our sprinter superheroes could flex their speed muscles while I channeled my inner bulldozer. Honestly, we had some sprinters who were stronger than my morning coffee—watch out, world!
I graciously appointed myself as the pace-setter, trying to drag us into a spicy little number while giving our sprinters a nice draft—because who doesn’t adore a little extra wind in their hair? We squeezed in two explosive sprints, so let’s see the jaw-dropping numbers we conjured up!

Congrats to J. Vidigal and L. Godfrey for going in green 🏆

Now that the “sprints” had been successfully tackled and squished under a mountain of sweaty socks, we cruised into a leisurely half lap—picture us as race car drivers hitting the brakes for a Sunday picnic. I eased off the gas just a smidge to wrangle the crew together, like a cat herding its kittens (surprisingly less chaotic than you’d think). But don’t be deceived; we were still jamming enough to make the race start feel like a space shuttle countdown. As we neared the grand finale, I spiked the speed like a kid who just discovered candy, deciding on a whim to drop the fence to 2 seconds (what a thrill-seeker, right?). Let me tell you, the pace in that last stretch turned into an absolute circus! 🎪

At the 2’nd sprint of the lap we kicked off with a small group zooming off like we were being chased by a swarm of angry bees! For a hot minute, we all huddled together for that sweet drafting effect, like a bunch of cyclists in a conga line. But then, just as we hit the real part of the climb, two brave souls decided they were too cool for school and bolted off at a tempo that made my legs feel like jelly. I thought I’d give it a whirl on the downhill and zoomed off—only to find the rest of the gang playing catch-up like they were in a race against the clock! Oh boy, they tried really hard catching me. By the finish line, we were all in a mad dash to see who could cross with style and grab that sweet lap number. In the end, we had our podium, and oh boy, let’s see what trophies we’ve got!

Congrats to. Martin B. 🥇, J. Vidigal🥈 and A. Marchal 🥉 on the podium.

Thanks to all riders for coming and riding with us today, it was a lot of fun.
