Today I had the dubious honour of leading our GGCC team on a pixel-powered parade through the virtual streets of London on the Zwift riding platform. We tackled a three-lap sufferfest disguised as a training ride on my favorite UK course: “Greater London Flat” (spoiler: it’s not that flat).

For the lead-in we kicked things off at a spicy 2,6W/kg. After that, I parked myself on a steady 200 W avg. effort at 71 kg, and for the last lap I heroically nudged it up to 205 W avg. Right before the first sprint (which is the end of the lead-in) I squeezed out a bit more power. Some of the sprinters already tried their legs early — and our best time still showed up on the 3’rd lap. But even on the 2’nd and print we cranked out some really good numbers.
Let’s see who actually earned the green jersey:

Congrats to M. Soutter for going in green – strong job 🏆
After the sprints, we turned our attention to the upcoming optional minirace – because who doesn’t love voluntarily suffering twice in one ride? I ramped up the pace to get some blood into the legs before going hard, like a warm-up for the warm-up.
As always, we launched the optional minirace from our beloved shopping building, Harrods, proving once again that lycra and luxury brands do mix. For a good time we had a nice group together, like a cheerful cycling tour – and then, predictably, chaos: more and more riders tried pushing everything, blasting away from the main racing group. Close to the end we catched up to the folks in front, emptying the tank for that last bit of glory. In the end everyone uncorked a hard sprint, because if you’re going to suffer, you might as well do it at maximum speed.
Let’s check out the results:

Congrats to M. Soutter 🥇, Martin B. 🥈 and T. Hillmann 🥉 on the podium.

Thanks to all rider for coming and having fun with us today.
